The offense is bland. It’s improved since the addition of Amari Cooper but it’s really not that different. It’s Amari Cooper making plays. Thursday was an excellent example.

The touchdown that first came off was just a short catch followed by a long run. The second was a solid catch that was caught in triple coverage and Cooper eventually broke free and was able to make it to the goal line. He’s been worth the first-round draft pick thus far as well as those who said he wasn’t have to take their word for it. While Cooper has helped make the offense more efficient but I’m not convinced he’s contributed to making Dak Prescott significantly better.

What Cooper did is open up the run game a little. This patchwork Cowboys offensive line ran well yesterday. That used to be their formula for success, and they’re getting back to it. But again, they have only one formula to succeed. It’s not a strategy that will ensure they win over the long haul, however.

The greatest thing that the Cowboys have to offer is their defense. It’s fast. It’s physical, and they are able to snare passers. It’s their defense that allows the defense a chance to win every single week. I enjoy watching the defense play. They take on the Saints on Thursday, so they will get an enormous test. We will be able to judge them more clearly after that game.

What can we say about the night’s game? The Falcons have a bad record.

The Falcons do things that bad football teams do. They made a mistake inside the 5-yard line three times and another inside the 20. Matt Ryan threw a tipped pass interception for their fourth mistake.
